Mrs. Kerstin Haskell is talented in developing and managing complex projects in the public health arena. Her ability to launch and promote services and products throughout the world has led to successful and sought-after programs in the private, nonprofit, and government sectors. As the President of World BioHazTec, Mrs. Haskell is responsible for monitoring and maintaining unique, niche safety and health projects so that they are delivered on schedule. Notably, she was appointed as the Technical Editor of the NIH/CDC publication Biosafety in Microbiological and Biomedical Laboratories, 5th Edition, showcasing her industry influence.

Mr. Theodore (Ted) Traum has over forty years of experience as a mechanical engineer, industrial engineer and project manager with a focus in BSL-3 and BSL-4 laboratories, biomedical facilities, hospitals and research facilities. In these roles, he consults with clients and oversees laboratory planning, programming, commissioning, validation, and third-party certification activities for significant Biocontainment, Laboratory, Vivarium, Safety, and Healthcare projects. He has led a wide range of projects covering regulatory and standard development, facility testing, and safety investigations. His work spans both mobile and stationary sources including laboratories, pilot plants, hospitals, and oil and gas producers. He has participated on a number of guidelines, standards, and regulations including Biosafety in Microbiological and Biomedical Laboratories, NIH Design Requirements Manual, WHO Laboratory Biosafety Manual, ANSI/ASSP Z9.14, Testing and Performance-Verification Methodologies for Ventilation Systems for Biosafety Level 3 (BSL-3) and Animal Biosafety Level 3 (ABSL-3) and promulgation of the Singapore Biological Agents and Toxins Act.

Mr. Traum, in his role as Principal of World BioHazTec, serves as the lead subject matter expert on risk assessment design and facility operation. Recognized for his creative solutions in presenting information and enhancing user capabilities, he is the go-to expert for multiple organizations and government agencies seeking guidance on occupational safety and health regulations. His expertise shapes our innovative approaches, ensuring a profound impact on creating safe and healthy environments.

Mr. Osorio is a seasoned professional with over 20 years of expertise in commissioning and certifying BSL-3 and BSL-4 laboratories, cleanrooms, hospitals, and research facilities. As a biocontainment engineer, he collaborates with clients on laboratory planning, programming, commissioning, validation, and third-party certification activities for significant biocontainment, laboratory, vivarium, and safety and health projects. His extensive knowledge spans high and maximum containment architecture, mechanical building systems, safety devices, sustainable design, constructability, biosecurity, equipment configuration, risk analysis, process flow, and biomedical waste processing.

With a robust background, Mr. Osorio has served as a consultant for the NIH and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, contributing his insights to commissioning and certification challenges. His involvement in the development of high and maximum containment guidelines and regulations for the NIH showcases his commitment to advancing industry standards. Mr. Osorio played a key role in shaping the NIH BSL-3 Laboratory Certification Requirements and has been a valuable consultant on the NIH Design Requirements.

Mr. Dan Yoong has over two decades of experience in designing and constructing bio-containment facilities across Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. His extensive portfolio includes providing cutting-edge bio-containment solutions for governments, universities, and multinational companies. In 2016, Mr. Yoong made history as the first Singaporean appointed by the Ministry of Health as an Approved Facility Certifier (Engineering). He holds the prestigious status of an approved Trainer under the Singapore Workforce Skills Qualification (WSQ), specializing in Bio-Containment Engineering-related topics.

As the Managing Director of the World BioHazTec Asia, Middle East, and Africa (AMEA) Office, Mr. Yoong leads a team of specialist consultants and facility planners, overseeing planning, programming, construction, commissioning, validation, and third-party certification activities. His visionary leadership extends to managing World BioHazTec’s growth and strategic direction, ensuring a commitment to safety and quality. Under his guidance, World BioHazTec has achieved ISO45001, ISO9001, and Bizsafe Star accreditation, emphasizing the organization’s dedication to safety and excellence.

Ms. Vizzotti has a rich background in Emerging Infections in Virology. Her expertise spans diagnostics, molecular biology, and field research activities, making her a valuable asset in the field. Ms. Vizzotti’s career trajectory led her to the role of Biosafety Officer for a new public health BSL-3 and ABSL-3 facility in Buenos Aires, Argentina. A trailblazer in biosafety, Ms. Vizzotti played a pivotal role in achieving the first systematic third-party certification of a public health BSL-3 and ABSL-3 facility in Latin America. This accomplishment, conducted under the guidelines of WHO, CDC, and NIH, underscored her commitment to upholding the highest standards in biocontainment.

In her commitment to advancing biosafety practices in the region, Ms. Vizzotti co-founded the      Asociación Latinoamericana de Biocontencion y Bioseguridad. As the current President of the organization, she continues to champion the cause of promoting best practices and safety standards in biosafety and biocontainment throughout Latin America.

Ms. Brown is an accomplished Program Manager renowned for her expertise in training development, review, analysis, assessment, and program coordination. Ms. Brown is dedicated to World BioHazTec’s learners, making sure that they receive the best instruction possible. Ms. Brown’s commitment to excellence is exemplified by spearheading World BioHazTec’s effort to become an International Accreditors for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) prestigious Accredited Provider. This achievement highlights her dedication to upholding the highest standards in continuing education and training. As IACET Accredited Providers are exclusively approved to offer IACET Continuing Education Units (CEUs), Ms. Brown ensures that World BioHazTec adheres to rigorous peer-reviewed processes, guaranteeing the delivery of exceptional educational experiences which result in improved safety and efficiency. She has also been appointed to the IACET Middle East Expansion and South and Central America Expansion Committees to extend quality adult learning internationally.

Ms. Brown also shares her expertise and commitment to biosafety through her term as Treasurer for the Chesapeake Area Biological Safety Association (ChABSA), the largest affiliate of The Association for Biological Safety and Biosecurity International (ABSA) and two ABSA training and educational resource committees.  

Before joining World BioHazTec, Ms. Brown had an enriching career managing the National Institutes of Health’s National Biosafety and Biocontainment Training Program (NBBTP). During her role there, Ms. Brown demonstrated exceptional skill in managing Fellows’ professional development activities. Her contributions were not only instrumental in the success of the program but also involved reporting to the Scientific Advisory Board and Directors on the progress of the Fellows. Ms. Brown’s comprehensive understanding of the administration and management of the NBBTP showcases her dedication to fostering the growth and development of biosafety professionals.

In addition to her work with the NBBTP, Ms. Brown further expanded her portfolio by serving as the Safety Training and Education Program Manager, supporting the National Institutes of Health, Division of Occupational Health and Safety (DOHS). Her ability to establish strong relationships within DOHS, the Office of Research Services (ORS), and Institutes and Centers (ICs) underscores her effectiveness in navigating complex organizational structures.

Mrs. Traum serves as a key strategic partner contributing to the development and success of World BioHazTec in shaping the organization’s plans and programs while providing invaluable support in the execution of contracts. Mrs. Traum’s expertise extends to overseeing, organizing, implementing, directing, and evaluating the organization’s fiscal function and performance. Her strategic insights play a crucial role in assessing the impact of long-range planning, the introduction of new programs and strategies, and regulatory actions. 

In addition to her strategic contributions, Mrs. Traum plays a vital role in evaluating and advising on the financial implications of contractual agreements. With a keen eye for financial strategy and a commitment to the organization’s success, Mrs. Traum’s role is integral to World BioHazTec’s ability to navigate a complex business landscape. Her multifaceted responsibilities showcase her dedication to fostering fiscal health and sustainability within the organization.
