The Challenge
In an effort to enhance San Joaquin County’s vector surveillance services, ARCHITECHNICA was enlisted to lead the detailed design and construction drawing efforts for their upcoming BSL-2, BSL-3, and ACL-3 laboratory suite. Recognizing the critical importance of aligning this complex facility with rigorous biosafety and biosecurity standards, the collaboration included the engagement of a biosafety consultant to conduct a comprehensive peer review of the drawings.
The Solution
In a collaborative effort, World BioHazTec joined forces with ARCHITECHNICA as the biosafety consultant during the detailed design phase. Rigorously scrutinizing the laboratory suite’s layout, we conducted a comprehensive evaluation to enhance process flow, ensure compliance with California’s stringent regulations, and verify that the MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) drawings adhered to containment standards. Actively participating in design meetings, World BioHazTec offered insightful comments aimed at refining the design to prioritize the well-being of the laboratory staff and ensure the safety of the surrounding community and environment.
The Result
ARCHITECHNICA delivered an exceptional design to the San Joaquin Laboratory, meeting stringent safety and security standards. The collaborative partnership between ARCHITECHNICA and World BioHazTec not only strengthened the team but also resulted in an improved product. This elevated design enhances the laboratory’s credibility within the scientific community and solidifies its role as a trusted community partner.
